hello you,

It was a beautiful night. The sky wasn't completely clear -- dark purple clouds threatened rain -- but a warm breeze embraced her, calming her just a little. A single bright star shimmered overhead.

Is that you, Dad? If that's you, give me a sign.

The star didn't dance or shoot across the sky. So maybe Dad wasn't a star.

Another warm gust of wind tousled her hair, and Abby closed her eyes.

Is that you, Dad? If that's you, blow harder.

The wind died down and the air seemed even more still than it had before.

Okay, so maybe Dad wasn't the wind.

Abby squeezed her shut eyes tight and asked Dad for just one sign. She opened them and searched the dark world around her, but nothing miraculous happened. Abby sighed in disappointment. She wondered if there really was a heaven, after all. Surely Dad would have given her a sign if he could have. Or maybe he was so happy to see his old family again that he's already forgotten the one he left behind.

TEARJERKER. Teared quite madly almost throughout the entire novel. This was quite a simple heartfelt story about how a pubescent girl witnesses the dying process of her father, from a healthy jovial family man to frail man in a coffin.

I chanced upon a mutual friend's blog recently. She's 20 this year too and she scattered her father's ashes into the sea on her 20th birthday after he succumbed to stomach cancer.

Life is too fragile :'(

There's so much that I want to do this holidays. A lot of catching up and talking to old friends and trying to keep the good friends closer ♥

Accomplished quite a number of 'firsts' this holidays too yay! Firstly, going back for Harmoc concert HAHA I thought I told myself that it would be my last time listening to the Harmoc during my last concert :P So happy I caught up with Cass!!!

Okay this isn't a 'first' but owellz, being a lightbulb HAHAHA super bright one!!! Went cycling with Charlotte and KK at ECP! We cycled from ECP to Tampines! Super hot and sweaty after that but I managed to get tanner and it was good exercise!

Gonna do Mission Impossible 1204923805 this 26th May. But I think I will just walk for most of the 10k :/ But I guess it's good that I signed up cos my mum, sis and I have kinda started gyming together again yay!

We also celebrated G's birthday! Shopped for his present the day before meeting him and I'm amazed at how fast guys are in making decisions when it comes to shopping.

Tmr will be Kris's SUPER belated birthday dinner. Looking forward to it ♥ Cos finally we're meeting 1-1 HAHAHAHAHA.

I think the start of April marks the start of splurging on people's presents! And my dad's birthday is in May and my mum in June! Thinking of driving my dad to a surprise place for dinner (ofc w the family and my brother directing me!) but I think my dad will probably get too infuriated with my driving skillz to even look forward to a nice celebration? :(

HAH i just deactivated my FB account. One distraction down finally. Need to concentrate on my tasks at hand and deadlines to meet. Missed the SMU and NUS scholarship/application deadlines even after M reminded me of it. My bad. Bad time management + procrastination. Wondering if I made a mistake in not applying for UK/US unis, since the cost of studying med/dentistry in UK is the same as studying in Aust. The whole of the last week interning has been a test of my patience. Yes impatient patients testing the patience of an 18 year old intern who happens to have zilch experience in PR skills. I don't know how the nurses can deal with them over the phone, like they scold you over the phone and I just passed the phone to the nurse to deal with him/her and when he/she arrived for his/her appt, I glared very hard at the said person, of course being a part of the clinic means I have to give that mandatory smile so heh fake smile to the rescue~ I think i have some bipolar problem cos I can...

Thrashed a couple of letters, deleted the photos... Can...

Milestones in life

23 Jun 17 - Got our wedding bands! :) 26 Jun 17 - Settled our bridal package! :) *** I thought I should document this down somewhere - this whole wedding planning journey hasn't been very smooth-sailing. We both had our fair share of unhappiness and quarrels over what we want in our wedding. Deep down, if given a choice... I wouldn't want to plan a wedding. I don't have a dream wedding. I still do not understand the fuss behind planning for one, looking for the perfect dress and venue. I would very much prefer to be spending all this money on our future home; unfortunately this isn't the case but we respect our parents' wants and requests. But I'm glad I'm experiencing this with G, because in all our squabbles, he's always the one taking a step back and trying to give in :( And that's why I realized how ridiculous I was. Nonetheless, I am excited at the thought of marriage (not so much on the wedding oops) and with that I hope this optimism...
